1. Reverse the government's increasing control on gun laws
I believe that at the rate we are going, within a few generations we will not be able to own any guns or weapons. Our forefathers fought and died for this freedom that we take for granted. I believe those who are using them to kill innocent people, will still use illegal guns to kill. When this happens how will we defend ourselves?
2. Going to college out of high school vs. waiting a few years to know interests then go to college
Many people believe that going to college right out of high school is the best path to take for the student. From what I have seen, most students go throughout college and don't know what they want to study. They haven't gotten the chance to know themselves yet. I believe that most people should take some time to evaluate what they want to do for the rest of their lives before sinking thousands of dollars into a degree that they will most likely not use.
3. Should every person be mandated to go through gun safety training
I believe that if everyone was trained in gun safety and carried a gun around with them in their cars or on their person, there would be less gun related tragedies. The shooter would likely think twice before they used a weapon because it would most likely end in them not getting what they wanted accomplished. This would also satisfy the need for government regulated gun control.
4. Should USA have a mandatory 2-year military service obligation
I believe that if everyone served a few years in the military then the nation wouldn't need to spend extra money to advertise and entice people to join. Doing this would provide training for each member of society on how to handle combat situations, and gun safety, and more excellent skills that young people can take advantage of to further their own careers. Patriotism would most likely increase as well knowing your doing your part to keep America free.

ReplyDeleteHi Philip,
ReplyDeleteThese are really thougtful topics and relevant to your life which is great!
I like number two the best because the cost of education is rising and many students don't know what they want to do with themselves when they start college.
I also like number four. I think many of the young people I know, boys especially, could benefit from something like this.
Could you clarify something about number three for me? When you say, "I believe that if everyone was trained in gun safety and carried a gun around with them in their cars or on their person," do you mean EVERYONE? Or just people that want to carry guns?
Prof D,
ReplyDeleteTo answer your question, on number three: I meant everyone should be trained. Not everyone would have to carry a gun, only those who want to. Thanks for the input!

ReplyDelete1. Reverse the government's increasing control on gun laws
---------------------------------
Some think that the government should continue to crack down on gun laws in America, while others think that the government has already taken away too many of our American freedoms.
2.Going to college out of high school vs. waiting a few years to know interests then go to college
---------------------------------
Some believe going to college right out of high school is best for our youth in America, while others think that waiting actually helps the student follow through to graduate because of purpose of knowing what he wants to do.
3. Should every person be mandated to go through gun safety training
---------------------------------
Some believe that not being equipped and adequately trained will somehow help their chance of survival if they were being attacked. Others believe that we as Americans have the right to defend ourselves against attacks, and should be ready if this should happen.
4. Should USA have a mandatory 2-year military service obligation
-------------------------------------
Some believe that the military should be voluntary and those people should fight for the good of the country. Others believe that everyone should play a part in keeping our country safe from enemy countries, and we would be better as a nation and individually for it.
