The main reason I would choose Megan Fox to be “voted off the island” is for the constant sex-image she portrays both on and off the movie screen that in turn models unrealistic sexual expectations to today’s teenagers. From one of the first movies Megan stars in, Transformers (2007), she plays a teenage girl having a seductive image. In newspapers and magazines her revealing outfits are ever present. For example, in her latest movie, Jennifer’s Body (2009), Megan plays a cheerleader who is possessed and uses her body, even naked at times, to lure and kill men. The July issue of British GQ quotes Megan openly admitting,“I have this sort of promiscuous image. People assume I’m really overtly sexually aggressive and that I’m this wild child.” “I would rather have an image that is wild and promiscuous than to go out of my way to be proper all the time.” Megan Fox is only showing our youth that it’s not brains, but how one looks that is most important.
Things would be quite different if Megan Fox was to leave the main stream media for good. I would imagine that those who would miss her would consist mainly of men. Most any guy would mourn the loss of another fantasy woman to lust after, but would soon focus on one of the many other sex symbols in our media. Megan is overexposed in our media and her leaving wouldn’t be hard on the media publications. They will just find the next “sex icon” to be on the front cover to sell their next month’s publication. I think we would be better off without her because there will be one less poor role model for our youth.
My personal principle is that Americans should not be exposed on a daily basis to unrealistic examples of how women “normally” act and dress, or else we will destroy our children's outlook in the future. Actresses like Megan Fox have pushed the standard of what sells to new heights, and it’s not fair to our children. If we allow this to continue, our sons will expect that all girls should have a perfect shape and dress like Megan. Our daughters could find that they have to dress seductively to be noticed, and will constantly have a poor self-image because they won’t always be proportioned perfectly. The sooner we realize this, the better the chance we have of helping our young people have a healthy image of self and others.

4 potential research topics
1. Reverse the government's increasing control on gun laws
I believe that at the rate we are going, within a few generations we will not be able to own any guns or weapons. Our forefathers fought and died for this freedom that we take for granted. I believe those who are using them to kill innocent people, will still use illegal guns to kill. When this happens how will we defend ourselves?
2. Going to college out of high school vs. waiting a few years to know interests then go to college
Many people believe that going to college right out of high school is the best path to take for the student. From what I have seen, most students go throughout college and don't know what they want to study. They haven't gotten the chance to know themselves yet. I believe that most people should take some time to evaluate what they want to do for the rest of their lives before sinking thousands of dollars into a degree that they will most likely not use.
3. Should every person be mandated to go through gun safety training
I believe that if everyone was trained in gun safety and carried a gun around with them in their cars or on their person, there would be less gun related tragedies. The shooter would likely think twice before they used a weapon because it would most likely end in them not getting what they wanted accomplished. This would also satisfy the need for government regulated gun control.
4. Should USA have a mandatory 2-year military service obligation
I believe that if everyone served a few years in the military then the nation wouldn't need to spend extra money to advertise and entice people to join. Doing this would provide training for each member of society on how to handle combat situations, and gun safety, and more excellent skills that young people can take advantage of to further their own careers. Patriotism would most likely increase as well knowing your doing your part to keep America free.

They could go all the way
Based on what I’ve seen in the movie “Run Away Jury,” I do believe Marley and Nick Easter have what it takes to manipulate the jurors. It’s interesting how Nick is able to use what he observes about people to his advantage when trying to befriend them. He’s not doing it in a manipulative way, but yet he is finding ways to relate to them to gain each of their trust. To the goth girl he is kind, to the old and blind man he honors, and to the marine he shows respect of his fallen marines. Marley and Nick have put a lot of forethought into their plan to rig the jury, but it will take more than kind words to sway a jury one way or another.
From what we’ve seen so far, it makes me think they have done this before, but only a few times or else Rakin Fitch, being so popular, would have come across her/them before. I remember Nick saying at the beginning of the movie when he receives his jury summons in the mail, “Christmas comes early this year.” It’s because of this statement, and the way that Marley and Nick talked while they were at their house, that I think they have done this before. Another scene in the movie when he was getting coffee and a muffin, he knew there were bad guys taking pictures of him. When he came out of the coffee shop with his stuff he threw them in the trash because they were just props in his diversion before going to meet with Marley in the candle shop. If Marley and Nick have done this before, then I believe their experience and skills with people and awareness shows that they have the potential of swaying the jury to whatever side they want.
(Note: Mrs. Difabio asked me to write about whether or not Marley and Nick currently have the ability to control the jury because I have seen the movie before. Instead of what was assigned to the class.)
